The Washington Capitals announced their opening-night roster for the 2026-27 NHL season, featuring 14 forwards, seven defensemen, and two goaltenders. Captain Alex Ovechkin returns after leading the team with 32 goals last season, joined by new forward additions Alex Tuch, Jordan Kyrou, and Boone Jenner, as well as recently extended young forwards Ryan Leonard and Justin Sourdif.
On defense, Jakob Chychrun and rookie Cole Hutson headline the blue line, while Rasmus Sandin remains on the injured non-roster list recovering from ACL surgery. In goal, Logan Thompson and Charlie Lindgren form the tandem, following backup goalie Clay Stevenson being claimed on waivers by the Winnipeg Jets.
