ARLINGTON, V.A. — The Washington Capitals will be without Matt Roy once again against the New York Rangers, but did get a positive update on the blueliner ahead of Friday's matchup.

Washington Capitals defenseman Matt Roy remains day-to-day and will miss Friday's matchup against the New York Rangers, though head coach Spencer Carbery noted positive progress after Roy skated solo. Meanwhile, Carbery expressed urgency regarding the third line of Aliaksei Protas, Ilya Protas, and Jordan Kyrou after the trio struggled defensively and conceded three goals against Pittsburgh.
Despite the line's early difficulties, Carbery plans to stick with the combination and believes simple structural adjustments will build their chemistry. Dylan McIlrath will remain on defense, and Logan Thompson is scheduled to start in goal for Washington.
