I finally cut the cord this summer. I won’t tell you which cable provider I had, but if you look at any ranking of the worst customer-service companies on the planet, I bet you’ll find them. Now I’ve got fiber…

RMNB writer Peter Hassett details how he plans to watch Washington Capitals games during the 2026-27 NHL season after canceling his cable subscription. Hassett primarily relies on an annual subscription to Monumental+, which costs $180 per year and carries at least 67 of the team's regular season games.
To cover non-Monumental broadcasts, Hassett utilizes a combination of HBO Max for TNT games, a Disney bundle for ESPN+ and ABC content, and Sling TV daily passes for games airing on ESPN. Hassett notes that while navigating multiple streaming platforms is complicated and totals $836 annually across his services, it remains cheaper than his previous cable package.
