Capitals new defenseman Jack St. Ivany, claimed off waivers just last week, adds to his point total as the Washington Capitals won for the second straight night to extend their winning streak…

Washington Capitals waiver addition Jack St. Ivany helped lead the team to their third consecutive victory, defeating the Nashville Predators 4-3. St. Ivany recorded two assists on goals by rookie Cole Hutson, marking his second consecutive two-assist performance since being claimed off waivers from Winnipeg. The victory marked the Capitals' second win in as many nights.
The Capitals claimed St. Ivany after defenseman Vincent Desharnais underwent an appendectomy. Head coach Spencer Carbery and the front office selected St. Ivany over AHL options Justin Holl and Ryan Chesley. Author John Murray notes that St. Ivany's strong emergence provides general manager Chris Patrick with surplus defensive depth ahead of the March trade deadline.
