Alex Tuch matched franchise history as his torrid scoring streak fueled a dominant divisional victory, capping a successful homestand while solidifying his role as Washington’s newest offensive powerhouse.

Alex Tuch scored two goals to lead the Washington Capitals to a 5-2 victory over the Philadelphia Flyers at Capital One Arena on Wednesday night. Jordan Kyrou also scored twice, while Aliaksei Protas added his first goal of the season to cap a successful five-game homestand for Washington. Dylan Strome contributed three assists, and goaltender Logan Thompson stopped 23 of 25 shots in his return from an injury.
With his two-goal performance, Tuch reached nine goals in his first 11 games with the Capitals, joining Dino Ciccarelli as the only players in franchise history to accomplish the feat. Philadelphia received goals from Matvei Michkov and Sean Couturier, but goaltender Joseph Woll's 25 saves were not enough to prevent the Flyers from suffering their third consecutive defeat.
