The Winnipeg Jets‘ entire offseason has essentially been run by the trade rumors involving goalie Connor Hellebuyck. The season is now here, and Hellebuyck is still under contract with the Jets. That doesn’t mean a deal isn’t still coming, but…

Ongoing trade speculation surrounding Winnipeg Jets goaltender Connor Hellebuyck has sparked discussions about the future of center Mark Scheifele. Bleacher Report's Lyle Richardson highlighted that moving Hellebuyck could alter the franchise's competitive timeline, prompting other clubs to inquire about Scheifele. Sportsnet's Nick Kypreos previously reported that several teams, including the Montreal Canadiens, have explored the 33-year-old center's availability following his 103-point campaign in 2025-26.
A trade remains complicated due to Scheifele's contract, which carries an $8.5 million annual cap hit through 2030-31 and features a full no-movement clause. Richardson notes there is currently no indication Scheifele wants to leave or that Winnipeg is actively shopping him, though his situation could evolve if the Jets struggle this season.
