Mark Scheifele broke out of a three-game scoring slump by recording two assists in the Winnipeg Jets' 3-2 victory against the Colorado Avalanche on Wednesday night. After being held scoreless in the first three games of the season, the veteran center assisted on Cole Perfetti's second-period goal and then set up Kyle Connor for the decisive game-winner with one minute remaining in regulation.
Jets head coach Scott Arniel praised Scheifele's strong all-around play despite the early lack of points on the scoresheet. The victory improves Winnipeg's record to 3-0-1 on the season, while Scheifele now moves within 20 points of tying Dale Hawerchuk's franchise scoring record.
