Could the star fullback be the NRL’s first $2 million-per-season player?

New Brisbane Broncos head of recruitment Peter O'Sullivan has made securing fullback Reece Walsh to a long-term contract extension his top priority. Although Walsh is currently signed through the end of the 2029 season on roughly $1.1 million per year, Brisbane is reportedly keen to begin discussions early to keep the 24-year-old at the club for life.
An anticipated rise in the NRL salary cap from 2028 under the next broadcast deal could potentially see Walsh become the competition's first $2 million-per-season player. Broncos head coach Michael Maguire expressed strong support for retaining Walsh, praising his personal growth, leadership upside, and resilient attitude following multiple surgeries.
