Former England and St Helens prop James Graham has claimed rugby league governance in England is close to needing a corruption investigation following a failed partnership deal between the Rugby Football League (RFL) and Australia's NRL. Speaking on his podcast The Bye Round, Graham voiced frustration after the RFL and ARLC missed an NRL-imposed deadline of October 15, leaving any potential collaboration delayed until at least 2028.
Graham accused RFL "gatekeepers" of blocking the NRL's involvement out of personal fear or financial motives. He also criticized the English governing body for hypocritically demanding a development plan from the Australian competition while failing to demonstrate a coherent strategy or comparable results of their own.
