Mal Meninga has told the east coast of Australia to brace itself for Bear-mania in 2027.
Mal Meninga has outlined his ambitious vision for the Perth Bears ahead of their NRL debut in 2027, predicting substantial nationwide fan support. The head coach dismissed external criticism over the lack of big-name marquee signings, explaining the franchise prioritizes building sustainable junior pathways and targeting tough, experienced players over short-term recruitment fixes.
With 26 players currently signed, the Bears aim to become a top-four team within five years. Meninga is set to coach the side during its first two seasons before handing over the head coaching role to Ben Gardiner.
