The veteran winger was weighing up a contract extension.

Sydney Roosters veteran winger Daniel Tupou has officially announced his retirement from rugby league following his team's NRL Grand Final victory over the Newcastle Knights. The 307-game stalwart finishes his career as a one-club player, departing after claiming four premierships across 15 seasons with the Roosters.
Tupou leaves the game ranked third on the all-time try-scoring list with 198 tries. His exit compounds roster challenges for head coach Trent Robinson's side, who are also losing winger Mark Nawaqanitawase to rugby union and Daly Cherry-Evans to Super League club Hull FC ahead of next season.
