James Roby’s first words as St Helens welcome icon back in unique new role

Club icon James Roby has sealed a permanent return to St Helens as Partnership Manager (Commercial & Community). The newly created role will see the former hooker combine off-field commercial and community duties with occasional support for the club's coaching staff. Roby expressed his excitement about returning to Saints to strengthen relationships, build partnerships, and help the club succeed both on and off the field.

Roby retired from playing at the end of 2023 following 551 appearances for St Helens, where he won six Super League titles and four Challenge Cups. CEO Abi Ekoku welcomed the appointment, praising Roby's leadership and deep connection to the club and its local community.
