The Australian right edge has been targeted in their opening two matches of the World Cup.
Despite scoring three tries for Australia against Fiji, makeshift winger Tom Trbojevic expressed disappointment with his defensive performance on the Kangaroos' right edge. Fiji playmaker Kurt Donoghoe repeatedly targeted Trbojevic's wing, setting up a hat-trick for Semi Valemei.
Trbojevic emphasized the challenge of transitioning from fullback to wing alongside centre Kotoni Staggs under coach Kevin Walters. Ahead of Australia's pool match against the Cook Islands, Trbojevic rejected being rested and confirmed ongoing contract extension talks with Manly.
