The Bulls face competition from a fellow South African club in their pursuit of Springbok hooker Malcolm Marx.

The Sharks have reportedly entered the race to sign Springbok hooker Malcolm Marx, presenting competition to fellow South African side the Bulls. While the Bulls have actively pursued the 32-year-old for the past two months, the Sharks are now exploring a potential permanent recruitment. Marx remains under contract with Japanese club Kubota Spears through June 2027.
The Sharks' interest comes amid roster uncertainty, with hooker Bongi Mbonambi facing an internal disciplinary hearing and Fez Mbatha sidelined by a leg injury. According to Rapport, Sharks coach JP Pietersen, general manager Dave Williams, and recruitment head Ruan Jacobs have already held internal discussions regarding a move for Marx.
