Booming global interest in 2027 Rugby World Cup in Australia as one-year countdown begins

Rugby World Cup organisers have announced significant global demand for the 2027 tournament in Australia as the one-year countdown begins. Fans from 141 countries have already purchased tickets ahead of the general sale opening on October 1. The tournament begins in Perth with the Wallabies facing Hong Kong and China, marking the third time Australia has hosted the men's showcase event.

International buyers account for 44 percent of ticket sales, surpassing standard domestic-to-international expectations. Outside of host nation Australia, the United Kingdom leads purchases, followed by France, New Zealand, Ireland, the United States, and Japan. World Cup managing director Chris Stanley also highlighted surprisingly strong ticket demand from Chilean supporters for the expanded 24-team, 52-match tournament.
