The Chiefs have signed All Blacks XV prop Tevita Mafileo to a two-year deal, bringing the former Hurricanes big man back to the club in which he made his Super Rugby Pacific debut.

The Chiefs have officially signed All Blacks XV prop Tevita Mafileo to a two-year contract, securing his return to Hamilton. The 28-year-old front rower originally made his Super Rugby Pacific debut with the Chiefs before spending seven seasons with the Hurricanes, where he featured in 11 matches during their latest title campaign. Head coach Jono Gibbes welcomed the signing, highlighting Mafileo's work ethic and extensive top-level experience.
Mafileo's move provides crucial reinforcement for the Chiefs' front row following the departures of Reuben O'Neill to the Western Force and Sione Ahio to La Rochelle. The versatile prop, capable of playing both sides of the scrum, leaves a heavily contested Hurricanes prop rotation that includes Tyrel Lomax, Pasilio Tosi, Xavier Numia, and Siale Lauaki.
