He overcame a cystic fibrosis diagnosis at 3 months old to play rugby professionally.

Former Wallabies and Super Rugby hooker Nathan Charles has revealed he has been diagnosed with motor neurone disease at age 37. Speaking to Stan Sport, Charles shared that his health progressively declined over eight months before receiving the diagnosis, which he described as overwhelming and cruel.
Charles previously overcame cystic fibrosis to earn four Australian test caps and make 83 appearances for the Western Force. Now using mobility aids, Charles intends to raise awareness for MND, while a GoFundMe and a foundation in his name are being established.
