Leinster kicking coach Emmet Farrell has backed fly-half Sam Prendergast to kick on this season following an impressive opening performance off the bench against the Sharks. Prendergast came on for Caspar Gabriel with thirty minutes remaining in Durban, setting up Andrew Osborne's late try with a cross-field kick to secure a losing bonus point.
Farrell noted that the 23-year-old playmaker has added muscle to his frame while maintaining his confidence and personality amid international scrutiny. Prendergast is expected to start at fly-half against Cardiff on Saturday, positioning him for a crucial Ireland role while Jack Crowley remains injured.
