La Rochelle and Lions united in tribute to former Sale Sharks lock Hyron Andrews, who died suddenly in France on Friday aged 31.

La Rochelle and Lions observed a minute's silence before their Champions Cup match to honor lock Hyron Andrews, who died suddenly on Friday at age 31. A Lions No. 5 jersey was placed in front of the players prior to kickoff in France following the tragedy. SA Rugby stated that Andrews died after falling in an accident at the team's hotel on the Ile de Re.
According to French media reports, Andrews was discovered unconscious in a shower cubicle in cardiorespiratory arrest, and resuscitation attempts were unsuccessful. The South African forward had spent two seasons with Sale Sharks, making 45 appearances, before returning home to join Lions for the current campaign.
