Former Ireland flank Peter O’Mahony has revealed why Rassie Erasmus’ departure from Munster hit him so hard.

Former Munster and Ireland captain Peter O'Mahony revealed that Rassie Erasmus' departure from Munster in 2017 hurt him deeply. Speaking on the Irish Independent's Indo Sport podcast to promote his book All In, O'Mahony explained he had fully bought into Erasmus' vision and believed the coach would make a significant difference to the team.
Erasmus arrived at Munster in July 2016 alongside Jacques Nienaber before leaving late in 2017 to return to South Africa, where he later won two World Cups with the Springboks. O'Mahony acknowledged that while the departure was difficult, he completely understood Erasmus' decision to lead his home nation.
