‘It’s miracle you found it because this is a case of a perfectly fit-looking person dropping dead.’

Former rugby and NRL star Sonny Bill Williams has revealed he underwent life-saving open-heart surgery after a routine checkup uncovered an undiagnosed congenital heart defect. Williams was operated on by Dr. Michael O'Keefe at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, undergoing a Ross procedure to replace a diseased aortic valve.
Doctors warned the 41-year-old that his enlarged heart had put him at severe risk of sudden death without intervention. After spending more than a week in the hospital navigating a difficult recovery, Williams is now recuperating at home and aims to raise awareness regarding the condition.
