Swansea City council has called for Welsh Rugby Union bosses to resign after a loss of £18m for the latest financial year.

Welsh Rugby Union bosses are facing calls to resign after reporting an £18m loss for the latest financial year, with a similar deficit projected for next year. Chief financial officer Gavin Marshall warned the current model is unsustainable, pointing to rising operating costs, lower ticket sales, and falling fan spending as the WRU looks to cut the number of professional regions from four to three by 2028.
Swansea council leader Rob Stewart urged chief executive Abi Tierney and the board to step down, accusing the organisation of mismanagement and creating prolonged uncertainty. Former Wales wing Alex Cuthbert also criticised a lack of leadership and poor communication, arguing big corporate changes would occur elsewhere under such sustained losses.
