Iga Swiatek brought the curtain down on WTA season last week. After suffering an injury ahead of the Ningbo Open, Swiatek decided enough was enough…

Rennae Stubbs has voiced support for Iga Swiatek's decision to conclude her WTA season early following an injury sustained ahead of the Ningbo Open. Speaking on The Rennae Stubbs Podcast, the former doubles world number one described shutting down the campaign as a good move and a potentially massive bonus in the long term, noting it provides valuable time to reset after a challenging year.
Swiatek experienced a turbulent 2026 campaign that included coaching changes, early tournament exits, and failing to qualify for the WTA Finals. The early shutdown is expected to cause minimal ranking damage because she held few points from late 2025. Swiatek is scheduled to return to the court in late December for the Hyundai Card THE SIX exhibition event in South Korea.
