Defending champion Coco Gauff has withdrawn from the Wuhan Open, opting to prioritize rest and recovery following a demanding season. The World No. 4 expressed disappointment regarding her decision on the tournament's official Instagram page, explaining that her body required time to recover after a physically and mentally taxing period on court.
Gauff has played 62 matches this season, including 29 three-set encounters. Following a fourth-round exit at the China Open against Elise Mertens, the American will now focus on resting and preparing for the upcoming season-ending WTA Finals.
