Maja Chwalinska received a playful threat from Iga Swiatek after she knocked out her close friend in the semifinals at the Wuhan Open.

Maja Chwalinska defeated close friend Iga Swiatek 7-5, 6-1 in the Wuhan Open semifinals, securing her first WTA 1000 final appearance. Following the match, Chwalinska revealed that Swiatek jokingly threatened to "kill" her if the defeat caused Swiatek to miss qualification for the year-end WTA Finals.
Swiatek struggled with quad pain during the defeat, which significantly damaged her qualification prospects. Now ranked World No. 9, Swiatek must secure strong results at the Ningbo Open and Pan Pacific Open while holding off competitors like Marta Kostyuk, as Chwalinska prepares to face Sonay Kartal in the final.
