The WTA calendar has rapidly moved on to the Wuhan Open, immediately following the China Open in the schedule. The two WTA 1000 tournaments take place back-to-back, with Qinwen Zheng having just won the China Open after a final victory…
Caroline Garcia remains the only tennis player in history to win both the Wuhan Open and China Open titles in the same season, a feat she achieved in 2017. Her historic Asian swing double record remains secure for another year after recent China Open champion Qinwen Zheng and runner-up Mirra Andreeva both withdrew from the subsequent tournament in Wuhan.
During her historic 2017 campaign, Garcia defeated Ashleigh Barty to claim the Wuhan title before defeating Simona Halep to secure the China Open crown. Garcia, an 11-time WTA singles champion and two-time French Open doubles winner, reached a career-high ranking of world number four before ultimately retiring at the 2025 US Open.
