Alex de Minaur has held his nerve to claim what could be one of the most significant wins of his career, downing the world No 1-elect Alexander Zverev with a fearless display of attacking tennis to reach the Vienna Open…

Alex de Minaur defeated incoming world No. 1 Alexander Zverev 6-4, 1-6, 7-6 (7-4) in the semi-finals of the Vienna Open at the Wiener Stadthalle. The Australian world No. 10 maintained his composure through a tense deciding tiebreak, hitting 25 winners to secure his first individual tour-level victory over the German.
The triumph advances De Minaur to the championship match against Carlos Alcaraz, who defeated Daniil Medvedev in the other semi-final. The result also moves De Minaur back into the top eight of the Race to Turin for the ATP Finals.
