Pundit Charlie Mulgrew suggested that Celtic defender Liam Scales may have missed playing against Benfica due to carrying an injury knock. Scales remained an unused substitute as manager Martin O'Neill started central defenders Dane Murray and Auston Trusty during the match at the Estádio da Luz, where Celtic fell behind 3-0 by half-time.
