Mariners Reportedly Targeting 4 Managers With Championship Pedigree

The Seattle Mariners are seeking a new manager with previous Major League Baseball experience, following the departure of Dan Wilson. According to reporting from Jon Heyman, the organization is casting a wide net that highlights four experienced candidates: Joe Espada, Rocco Baldelli, Brandon Hyde, and David Ross. The Mariners have already received permission to interview Espada, whose contract with the Houston Astros is expiring.

Seattle has not hired a manager with prior MLB managerial experience since Lloyd McClendon in 2013. Among the potential targets, Baldelli spent the season with the Los Angeles Dodgers after managing the Minnesota Twins, Hyde served as a senior advisor with the Tampa Bay Rays following his tenure with the Baltimore Orioles, and Ross previously managed the Chicago Cubs after winning two World Series titles as a player.
