Stitched through the remains of a former sand mine, Pinehurst's new No. 11 course is unlike anything at the famed resort.

Pinehurst Resort has offered a sneak peek of its new layout, Pinehurst No. 11, which is scheduled to open to the public in March 2027. Designed by Bill Coore, Ben Crenshaw, and Ryan Farrow, the course joins Pinehurst No. 10 at the Pinehurst Sand Mines satellite campus located four miles from Pinehurst No. 2. Coore described the distinctive, eccentric layout as "weirdly wonderful."
Built partly on a former sand mine, No. 11 features dramatic ridges, spoil piles, and purple-tinged centipede grass reminiscent of an English heathland. The routing weaves through rugged industrial terrain and traditional Carolina Sandhills country, contrasting with the more expansive No. 10. Coore noted that while its quirks might not suit everyone, the resort offers ten other courses.
