The Story in 60 Seconds

Ultimate Golf Group has announced plans to revive and transform Merrist Wood Golf Club in Surrey into a premium golf and wellness venue following its closure over two years ago. The Guildford-based club, originally designed by David Williams and opened in 1996, was acquired by the group in July 2025. Co-founders Kristian Baker and Tom Reid plan to renovate the 18-hole course and construct state-of-the-art practice facilities.

The extensive redevelopment proposals include course drainage improvements, a new driving range, a rebuilt clubhouse, swing studios, a gym, padel tennis courts, and a spa. While the owners have indicated the project will require a significant capital investment, proposals remain in the early stages with preliminary documents submitted to Guildford Borough Council.
