Los Angeles Dodgers owner Mark Walter faces a fresh wave of lawsuits

Los Angeles Dodgers controlling owner Mark Walter is facing multiple lawsuits alleging that his insurance companies misled policyholders regarding their affiliated investments. Recent filings by retirees Rick Phillips and Robert Kalinsky allege misrepresentations involving Clear Spring, Gainbridge, and Delaware Life annuities, marking three such lawsuits filed within the past six weeks.
A spokesman for parent company Group 1001 stated they intend to vigorously defend the cases, noting no court has found wrongdoing. Walter recently sold his controlling stake in the Los Angeles Lakers for $12.6 billion amid broader SEC scrutiny into fund disclosures, though no criminal charges have been filed.
