Former St Helens CEO Mike Rush has publicly supported a potential partnership between the NRL and Super League, highlighting its long-term benefits for the sport. Now serving as the Chief Executive of the Parramatta Eels, Rush stated that aligning the two competitions would boost both domestic setups and the international game, while also opening the door to a central global broadcast deal across a single network.
The proposed agreement reportedly includes an investment of $57 million from the Australian game into Super League. Although a deadline of October 15 passed without an official agreement, Rush argued that an aligned structure is essential to strengthen English rugby league and capitalize on the growing international prominence of nations such as Samoa, Tonga, and Papua New Guinea.
