Another brutal day in Birdland as the team let go of a number of business operations staff, among others.

The Baltimore Orioles have implemented widespread staff layoffs following a disappointing 2026 season, according to a report from People. The job cuts include an employee who portrayed the team's beloved Oriole Bird mascot and the fan-favorite character Mr. Splash, alongside a team photographer. The staffing reductions follow an underperforming campaign in which the Major League Baseball franchise failed to reach the postseason.
The organizational changes come as the franchise begins an uncertain offseason following missed expectations on the field. Pitcher Trevor Rogers noted that the team struggled with consistency throughout the year, prompting leadership to make immediate roster and off-field structural adjustments ahead of the 2027 season.
