Major League Baseball has abandoned plans to host a regular-season game inside Grand Teton National Park following widespread public and local backlash. Commissioner Robert Manfred confirmed the decision in a letter to officials in Teton County, Wyoming, stating that the league recognized the local community did not want the event to proceed at the site.
The proposed one-day game had sparked serious concerns regarding the environmental impact of temporary stadium infrastructure on the 310,000-acre park's native wildlife habitat. Local officials, including Teton County commissioner Luther Propst, strongly opposed the concept, while the White House confirmed that the National Park Service had not issued any permits for the event.
