The international wing was nicknamed 'Jet Shoes' due to his devastating pace

Former Fiji rugby sevens international Waisale Beci has died at the age of 39, prompting tributes across the rugby community. Nicknamed 'Jet Shoes', the pacy winger burst onto the international stage in 2010 after being selected by national team coach Iliesa Tanivula for the World Sevens Series. He represented Fiji in tournaments including Wellington and Las Vegas, scoring four tries in his debut tournament.
Domestically, Beci played as a winger and goal-kicker for the Police rugby team in Fiji. After retiring, he transitioned into coaching as the head coach of the Draulu rugby sevens team, mentoring young athletes and providing them opportunities through events like the Nawaka Sevens.
