Merrist Wood Golf Club in Surrey, which closed in 2024, is set to undergo significant course upgrades and new health and leisure facilities.

Plans are progressing to reopen Merrist Wood Golf Club in Surrey following its acquisition by Ultimate Golf Group in July 2025. Co-founders Kristian Baker and Tom Reid aim to transform the Guildford-based venue into a premier golf and wellness destination. The proposed development includes extensive upgrades to the 18-hole par-72 course, improved drainage, and modern practice facilities.
Additional plans feature a rebuilt clubhouse, swing studios, a gym, a spa, and padel tennis courts. While the project will require significant capital investment, no budget or formal reopening date has been announced. The proposals remain in the early stages following initial document submissions to Guildford Borough Council.
