Just 12.2 overs possible on first day of second TestBowler seizes his opportunity with two wicketsIf there is a theme to Scott Boland’s Test career, it’s making the most of limited opportunity. Finding a way into the team in 2021…

Australian fast bowler Scott Boland claimed two quick wickets on a rain-curtailed opening day of the second Test against South Africa in Gqeberha. South Africa reached 20 for two as persistent drizzle and a heavy downpour restricted play to only 12.2 overs. Replacing Mitchell Starc, Boland dismissed Aiden Markram and David Bedingham off consecutive deliveries in his second over to put the hosts under early pressure.
Boland was selected in place of veteran spinner Nathan Lyon as Australia opted for an all-pace attack on a damp pitch. Boland now has 84 wickets in 20 Tests at an average of 18.2, reinforcing his consistent impact whenever called into the starting XI.
