The former India captain credits the former selector for giving him his international debut in 2007.
Rohit Sharma has expressed lifelong gratitude to former India captain Dilip Vengsarkar for giving him his maiden international cricket call-up. Speaking on Sony TV's Family Full House with Rohit Sharma, the Indian star reflected on his selection, stating he would be grateful to Vengsarkar for the rest of his life as he might not have received the opportunity otherwise.
Vengsarkar served as the chairman of the selection committee when Rohit made his ODI debut against Ireland in Belfast on June 23, 2007. Rohit also credited the late junior coach Vasu Paranjape for providing crucial support and advocacy during his early age-group cricketing days in Mumbai.
