The Pittsburgh Penguins team plane was forced to return to the airport in Salt Lake City on Tuesday following a medical episode involving 19-year-old forward Ben Kindel. Medical personnel attended to Kindel on board before an ambulance transported him to the University of Utah Hospital. The team released a statement confirming he was conscious, alert, and in stable condition.
The incident took place shortly after takeoff as the Penguins departed Utah following a 5-4 loss to the Utah Mammoth. Kindel logged nearly 19 minutes of ice time in Monday's game and has recorded four points in nine games this season. Pittsburgh next faces the Florida Panthers on Thursday.
