For the third time in eight days, the Montreal Canadiens blew a third period lead, but this time a costly mistake in overtime led to the San Jose Sharks coming out with the 4-3 overtime victory.
The Montreal Canadiens suffered a 4-3 overtime defeat against the San Jose Sharks after blowing a 3-1 third-period lead. Costly penalties doomed Montreal, culminating in an overtime interference call on goaltender Jakub Dobes that allowed Sharks forward Macklin Celebrini to score the game-winning goal on a 4-on-3 power play.
Celebrini finished with two goals and an assist, while Tyler Toffoli and Michael Misa also scored for San Jose. Montreal's top line produced all three Canadiens goals through Nick Suzuki, Juraj Slafkovsky, and Cole Caufield, but third-period undisciplined play ultimately proved decisive.
