Cubs To Make International Scouting Hire

The Chicago Cubs are expected to hire longtime Tampa Bay Rays international scouting director Steve Miller. Miller is set to serve as the vice president of Chicago's international scouting department, according to a report from Francys Romero of BeisbolFR. He previously spent seven years as an area scout with the Toronto Blue Jays before joining the Rays organization in 2013, where he was promoted to their top international scouting role in 2019.

Miller's impending arrival follows internal restructuring within Chicago's front office earlier this season. The Cubs previously reassigned former VP of international scouting Louie Eljaua to a different role and moved veteran executive Alex Suarez to special assistant to president of baseball operations Jed Hoyer. The international department previously signed notable prospects Jefferson Rojas and Moisés Ballesteros, who were both used as key trade assets at the deadline.
