The Los Angeles Dodgers messed up in their management of Shohei Ohtani this season, and they must now use their mistakes as a learning experience for 2027.

Dodgers Way writer Colin Keane argues that the Los Angeles Dodgers must adopt a more cautious workload plan for Shohei Ohtani in 2027. Keane contends that manager Dave Roberts and team leadership mismanaged Ohtani during the 2026 season by failing to provide adequate rest, which reportedly contributed to the two-way superstar suffering multiple injuries including knee inflammation and biceps issues.
Keane notes that Roberts publicly admitted Ohtani should have been placed on the injured list earlier. Since Ohtani intends to continue pitching in 2027, the writer urges the Dodgers' front office and Andrew Friedman to be far more proactive with off days and rest next season.
