Girls’ flag football: Wednesday’s Southern Section playoffs scores

The CIF Southern Section girls' flag football playoffs opened with first-round Open Division pool play games on Wednesday. Top-seeded JSerra earned a 41-20 victory over No. 12 Sierra Canyon in Pool A, while No. 2 Newport Harbor defeated No. 11 Dos Pueblos 19-6 in Pool B. In other first-round action, No. 3 Orange Lutheran topped No. 10 Downey 16-12, and No. 9 Lakewood St. Joseph edged No. 4 Huntington Beach 27-26.

Play continues Saturday with second-round pool matchups across the Open Division alongside opening games across Divisions 1 through 6. The playoffs will continue through the quarterfinals on October 27 and semifinals on October 31, concluding with championship games for all divisions scheduled for November 7 at Huntington Beach High School.
