Over the past few games Adam Jiricek has seen his ice time decrease. But this is not a bad thing for his development.

St. Louis Blues head coach Jim Montgomery appears to be reducing rookie defenseman Adam Jiricek's ice time, writes Brian Germinaro. After averaging 15:31 per game early in the season, Jiricek saw a decline to 10:17 against the Nashville Predators and 11:50 against the Winnipeg Jets, indicating a likely shift toward a bottom-pairing role.
Germinaro argues that reducing the 20-year-old's workload is the right decision for his long-term development. Making the direct leap from the OHL to the NHL, Jiricek has posted one goal and 12 turnovers in nine games, with the writer emphasizing that the Blues should avoid rushing him into major responsibilities.
