Game 1 of 82 was not exactly what the Utah Jazz and their fans envisioned coming into this new era of ‘Mountain Basketball’. After a strong first quarter, the Jazz could never put a bottle on the Ty Jerome show…

The Utah Jazz opened their regular season with a defeat against the Memphis Grizzlies at FedExForum on October 21, 2026. Memphis guard Ty Jerome led the Grizzlies to victory with a career-high 45 points on 17-of-25 shooting, alongside seven rebounds and six assists. Keyonte George paced the Jazz with 22 points and five assists, while rookie Darryn Peterson started strong and Ace Bailey contributed three blocks.
SLC Dunk highlighted struggles across the rest of the roster, noting poor bench play and offensive difficulties for Jaren Jackson Jr. and Lauri Markkanen, who combined for 33 points. Jackson fouled out midway through the fourth quarter in his first game back in Memphis. The Grizzlies also dominated the rebounding battle, earning 17 more shot attempts than Utah.
