The Washington Wizards defeated the Milwaukee Bucks 128-116 in their season opener at Capital One Arena. Center Anthony Davis led Washington with 34 points and 12 rebounds in his franchise debut, while Trae Young recorded a double-double with 20 points and 13 assists. The victory marked the Wizards' first regular-season win since March 25 of the previous season.
Washington played without No. 1 overall pick AJ Dybantsa, who was sidelined with an ankle injury, prompting Bilal Coulibaly to start in his place. After trailing 93-90 entering the fourth quarter, the Wizards used a 16-2 run sparked by a Deandre Ayton dunk to pull away. Tyler Herro paced Milwaukee with 24 points.
