Miami Heat player Erik Spoelstra was not terribly thrilled with one of his reserves for helping to fire up Anthony Edwards during the team’s season opener on Wednesday.
Miami Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra expressed frustration after reserve wing Myron Gardner provoked Anthony Edwards from the bench during Wednesday's season opener. Edwards scored 45 points to lead the Minnesota Timberwolves to a 131-106 victory over the Heat at the Kaseya Center, later explaining that trash talk from Miami's bench helped fuel his high-scoring performance.
Spoelstra cautioned Gardner to be smarter with his competitive energy, stating he does not want reserves trash-talking opposing scorers while not on the court. Gardner played only three minutes of garbage time in the fourth quarter during the contest.
