Jamie Carragher and Xabi Alonso were reunited earlier this week as the former Liverpool defender went to meet the now Chelsea head coach at the club's training ground…
Jamie Carragher revealed his initial reaction to Xabi Alonso joining Liverpool in 2004, admitting he was skeptical of the midfielder's early confidence. Speaking to Sky Sports, Carragher recounted how manager Rafael Benitez praised the Spanish newcomer for analyzing where the team could improve. This led Carragher to question who Alonso thought he was upon his arrival from Real Sociedad.
Alonso silenced early doubters by helping Liverpool win the Champions League in his debut season against AC Milan. The Basque midfielder made 210 appearances and scored 19 goals across five seasons at Anfield before completing a £30 million transfer to Real Madrid.
