Maple Leafs Legend Praises Mats Sundin for His Major Commitment to Toronto

Toronto Maple Leafs legend Doug Gilmour praised former teammate Mats Sundin for his commitment after taking on an executive role with the franchise. Sundin returned to the organization as Senior Executive Advisor of Hockey Operations in May 2026, relocating his family from Sweden to Toronto to contribute to the front office full-time alongside General Manager John Chayka.

Speaking to Unsportsmanlike Content, Gilmour admitted he was initially surprised to see Sundin return to hockey but commended his desire to win. Gilmour also reflected on their past playing days, noting Sundin's leadership and work ethic while recalling that Sundin scored the goal that marked Gilmour's 1,000th career point.
